The League of Canadian Poets recently announced the shortlists for their annual Gerald Lampert and Pat Lowther awards. The Gerald Lampert Memorial Award is given to the best first book of poetry published by a Canadian in the preceding year. The Pat Lowther Memorial Award is given to a book of poetry by a Canadian woman published in the preceding year.
Gerald Lampert Award Shortlist:

Tiny, Frantic, Stronger by Jeff Latosik, publshed by Insomniac Press
The Nights Also by Anna Swanson, publshed by Tightrope Books
Pat Lowther Award Shortlist:
Walking to Mojácar by Di Brandt, publshed by Turnstone Press
Cathedral by Pamela Porter, publshed by Ronsdale Press
