Quill & Quire lavished some high praise on Alexander MacLeod's Light Lifting, his debut collection of short stories published by Biblioasis, in their December issue, naming the book as one of their fiction 'Books of the Year'.

In describing MacLeod and his writing Quill & Quire wrote, 'His capacity to encapsulate entire lives in the span of a few pages rivals Alice Munro. This is one of the finest collections of short fiction to appear in this country in a long, long time.'
